2013 Arkansas New Play Festival Begins 6/14 (5/20/2013) - TheatreSquared today announced the lineup for the 2013 Arkansas New Play Festival, the theatre's fifth annual celebration of bold new works for the stage.The festival will feature staged reading performances of four plays by professional playwrights, a showcase of ten-minute plays by Arkansas high school students, and Northwest Arkansas's seventh annual 24-Hour Play-Off. For the first time, the Arkansas New Play Festival is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Tickets are $7 (staged reading performances), $10 (The 24 Hour Play-Off), or $30 for a New Play Pass including all festival events, and they can be reserved by calling the Walton Arts Center Box Office at (479) 443-5600 or online at theatre2.org.

Segerstrom Center's Education and Community Programs Department Presents Arts Teach Showcase 2013 (5/13/2013) - The free Arts Teach Showcase returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on May 22 and features more than 60 internationally acclaimed professional artists who specialize in performing for school assemblies, family nights, student workshops, teacher professional development and residencies. This event welcomes members of the community, including school employees, PTA members, non-profit organizations or anyone interested in bringing world-class artists to perform or teach art workshops at their site.

TheatreSquared Announces Upcoming Season (4/30/2013) - TheatreSquared (T2) Artistic Director Robert Ford and Managing Director Martin Miller today announced TheatreSquared Season 8, the 2013/14 lineup of professional theatre at Northwest Arkansas's nationally acclaimed regional theatre. The five-play season includes the World Premiere of The Spiritualist by Robert Ford; 4,000 Miles, a 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist by Amy Herzog; a new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol; David Lindsay-Abaire's acclaimed new drama Good People; and Hamlet-TheatreSquared's first subscription Shakespeare production. Beaver Lake To Host FLW College Fishing National Championship (4/9/2013) - Rogers, Ark., is gearing up to host the FLW College Fishing National Championship April 19-21 on Beaver Lake. Twenty-five teams from across the country have competed in 20 qualifying events and five conference championship tournaments, and the top five teams from each conference now will compete for the title of national champion in this three-day nationally televised event.

Community Theatre of Little Rock Presents THE SMELL OF THE KILL, Beginning 4/26 (3/28/2013) - The Community Theatre of Little Rock continues its 57 Season with its Spring Dark Comedy 'The Smell of the Kill" by Michele Lowe. Winthrop Rockefeller Institute Hosts Second Annual Film Forum, Now thru 3/24 (3/21/2013) - The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute will host its second annual Film Forum designed to explore the arts of acting, screenwriting, producing, and directing today, March 21st - 24th, 2013, at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute atop Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas (about one hour outside Little Rock).

Bellevue Little Theatre Begins SUGAR, 4/12 (3/13/2013) - Bellevue Little Theatre. 203 W. Mission in Bellevue, will present 'Sugar' 'The Some Like It Hot Musical', its third offering of the 2012--13 season on April 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, and 27 and 28. Due to production conflicts we have been forced to cancel the Friday April 26 evening performance and have added an additional 2 pm matinee on Saturday April 27. Evening performances begin at 8 pm on the first two Friday and Saturday evenings, and all matinees begin at 2 pm. on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

After a disastrous wedding night, George deposits Isabel at the home of his old army buddy, Ralph-whose own wife has just walked out-and promptly disappears. The unexpectedly warmhearted and poignant drama that follows is vintage Williams, with all the hallmarks that have defined him as one of America's greatest playwrights.
